Adult Education Coordinator

Nashville International Center for Empowerment, established in 2005, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) ethnic community-based organization dedicated to empowering refugees and immigrants in Middle Tennessee through direct social services and educational programs. The Adult Education Coordinator will report to the Director of Education & Outreach and will work closely with education program staff. This is a full time, 40 hour position.
Major responsibilities
- Providing oversight to all adult education classes
- Expanding classes to meet program objectives
- Disseminating curriculum materials to teachers and students
- Observing and evaluating teachers to provide them with opportunities for growth in their instruction
- Registering new students on an ongoing basis
- Maintaining our physical and electronic student files
- Administering quarterly tests to track growth and move students into new levels, when applicable
- Addressing student concerns as they arise
- Effectively communicating expectations and standards to teachers and site coordinators
- Hiring new teachers and managing existing paid teachers
- Maintaining and creating new community partners to expand and coordinate services
- Coordinating teaching sites and addressing teacher needs
- Providing reports to donors, leadership, and governance board
- Working closely with the volunteer coordinator to make sure that classes are fully staffed and teaching when necessary
Requirements:
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Ability to shape collaborations and partnerships with others
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks on timely matters
- Strong written and oral English proficiency
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours on occasion, such as nights and weekends
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- High levels of self-motivation and independence
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Familiarity with computer software, information databases, internet and email
- Commitment to live and work in Nashville, Tennessee
- Reliable transportation
A bachelor’s degree or higher and a MINIMUM OF 3 YEARS experience working in education is required.
COMPENSATION: Salary Negotiable, paid vacation and holiday, medical reimbursement
