What is the NICE Neighborhood?
The NICE Neighborhood is a group of dedicated individuals committed to empowering Nashville’s refugee community by donating monthly. By joining the NICE Neighborhood, you make a committment to be a supportive neighbor to newcomers in our Nashville community. As a NICE neighbor, you will ensure that your New American neighbors can thrive in Nashville by lending a helping hand. In turn, you will be brought closer to New Americans in the Nashville comunity by recieving updates and personal communication from those you have supported.
How you can join:
Level 1: $10 a month provides school supplies for one New American child for a year
When New Americans arrive in Nashville, ensuring that their children are able to take full advantage of American education is a top priority. However, due to the high cost of living in Nashville, many New American families struggle to afford things as simple as food and rent. Purchasing necessary school supplies like pens, backpacks and paper often isn’t an option. With a donation of just $10 per month, you can ensure that a New American child has the supplies they need to succeed in Nashville schools.

Level 2: $20 a month covers 15 hours of translation services
The language barrier is one of the biggest challenges faced by the New American community in Nashville. With a donation of just $20 per month, you could provide 15 hours of translation services, and connect New Americans to valuable resources including job training, healthcare, immigration support and domestic violence resources.

Level 3: $40 a month covers the cost of 1 year of English classes for 1 New American student
For just $40 per month, you could support the instruction of one New American student in NICE’s English as A Second Language program. Learning English is a critical step in New American’s journeys to pursuing higher education, career and becoming U.S. citizens.

Level 4: $100 a month provides emergency rent assistance for one New American family
Upon arrival in Nashville, New American families often do not have the same safety nets as others in our community. For this reason, a loss in income due to injury or death in the family can put New Americans at risk for homelessness. With a donation of $100 a month, you can provide emergency rent assistance for a New American family at risk of homelessness.

Level 5: $400 a month supports the employment of one New American
New American Staffing Agency is NICE’s first ever social enterprise. For $400 a month, you can support the employment of one New American through NICE’s New American Staffing Agency, while also generating funding for other programs like Adult Education, Youth Education, Immigration and Health. Become apart of this innovative new solution for the empowerment of immigrants and refugees now and for generations to come.
