School Impact Program

The School Impact Program seeks to bridge the gap between Metro Nashville Teachers and refugee and immigrant parents by providing services geared towards improving communication and cultural understanding. There is a two pronged approach to achieve this goal.

The first part of the program consists of "Cultural Exchanges". NICE offers a series featuring speakers from two to three different cultures and facilitates programs in which these speakers share aspects of their culture with Metro Nashville Teachers and discuss how aspects of their culture can affect a child's educational experience in a U.S. school. These take place at the center and are also are presented to faculties during professional development times.

The second part of a program is a Parenting Club that takes place every Tuesday at the NICE. These classes focus on how parents can interact with their children's schools and how they can still be involved in their education children's education even though language barriers might be in place.
