All of these positions are weekly commitments and most take place Mondays through Fridays unless otherwise noted.
July Volunteer of the Month: Claire Thompson

Congratulations to our Claire Thompson who has been selected as the Volunteer of the Month for July! Claire is one of NICE’s summer interns and has made a tremendous impact in the short time she has been at the center. A senior at Grinnell College in Indiana where she is majoring in Anthropology, Claire has worked hard at the center to help the center stay organized, make sure the clients’ needs are handled in a respectful and prompt manner, as well as helping find and fill volunteer positions.
Positions Needed:
Childcare Assistant: Do you have a love for working with kids? We'd love to have you join our Childcare team! We're looking for volunteers in the mornings and evenings on weekdays to watch children while their parents attend classes! We provide a childcare room and we're looking for energetic volunteers to provide the fun!
Administrative Assistant: Looking to meet new people while helping us fulfill our mission to serve the refugees and immigrants? We're looking for patient and willing volunteers to help us man our front desks, answer phone calls, and help us out around the office. If you're an upbeat people person, this is the job for you!
English Teacher: The NICE is currently looking for volunteers willing to instruct refugees and immigrants in their pursuit of the English Language! Prior teach experience is not necessary. This position is a weekly commitment,so if you're interested in rewarding work in which you can build strong relationships with students, please sign up!
English Tutors: Some of our students would flourish better in a one on one setting. If you're looking for an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship while helping someone improve their English (and enable them to flourish in the US culture), then please sign up today! You'll be matched with a student based on availability and brief on how best to help them.
GED Teachers: Do you love teaching and want to try something a little different? Then become a part of our GED team! Classes meet on Saturdays and all classes have less than five people. If you're looking for ann opportunity to teach a subject you excel at, this is your chance!
Job Coach: We're looking for dedicated volunteers to sit with some of our clients and help them build resumes, identify their strengths, and help them learn about marketable job skills. WE'll match you with a client and you will use our inventory to help them recognize their strengths and apply for jobs that match those strengths.
