Bhuwan Nepal was born in Bhutan but became a refugee in Nepal at the age of 4 months. He lived and was educated in the Beldangi refugee camp in Nepal until his family immigrated to the U.S. in 2009. He spent his first 4 months in the U.S. in New Jersey and then moved to Nashville. Bhuwan speaks several languages, including Hindi and Nepali.
Bhuwan lives with his mother and younger sister and has 3 more sisters and their families living nearby. As the only son, he is responsible for the care of his mother and is the main provider for his family.
When we first met Bhuwan in March of 2011, he was assisting the new R&P team as an interpreter and part time case worker. In June of 2011 he started working fulltime as an R&P case worker.
Besides his work with N.I.C.E., he also takes his sister to school every morning and is going to college in the evenings. His long term goal is to work in the medical field.
