Position Description – Responsibilities and Requirements:
Nashville International Center for Empowerment, established in 2005,
is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 ethnic Community base organization dedicated
to empowering refugees and immigrants of Middle Tennessee through
direct social services and educational programs.
The Community Development Director (CDD) will report to President/CEO
and work closely with program staff, board of directors, and donors.
This is a full time 40 hour position.
Major responsibilities:
Expand, diversify, and manage NICE’s institutional development efforts
including donor cultivation, research, proposal writing, special
events, other fundraising activities, and linkages between refugee and
mainstream communities
Identify and research potential public and private funding resources,
including local, state, and federal government agencies, and local and
national foundations and corporations in order to develop program
support, in-kind donations, and non-restrictive financial support for
programs;
Write, submit, and oversee the drafting of funding proposals to
corporate and private foundations and local, state, and federal
government agencies; Manage proposal preparation and prepare reports
Maintain and expand relationships with community leaders, agency
partners, funders, media, and policy makers
The ideal candidate should possess:
Strong commitment to NICE’s mission and goals
At least two years of experience working with immigrant and refugee
communities and two years of experience in community development
At least three years of experience on fund development for a
non-profit organization; grassroots and foundation fundraising
experience with a proven track record of success
Ability to develop innovative strategies and tactics for cultivating
funders, including local, state and federal agencies and knowledge of
Grants.gov process is required
Demonstrated management skills, ability to work under pressure and
adhere to deadlines, ability to multitask, excellent time management
skills, ability to prioritize tasks, strong written and oral English
proficiency, ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours
such as nights and weekends, strong interpersonal and verbal
communication skills, high levels of self-motivation and independence,
ability to work as part of a team; familiarity with computer software,
information databases, internet and email, commitment to live and work
in Nashville, Tennessee; reliable transportation and willingness to
travel for work
A bachelor’s or master’s degree
COMPENSATION: Salary Negotiable, paid vacation and holiday, medical
reimbursement
